Suddenly very emotional about tomorrow. What if it’s his last game? What if he does retire at the end of the season? Where do we stand without him, not the Wings, but Detroit.. When he retires, he’s taking a precious part of the game with him, he’s taking a time of hockey with him that can never be replicated.. I hope he stays with the organization when he eventually retires. What if his jersey isn’t retired? I mean that’s all we have left of the Yzerman era, his beloved #19 hanging from the rafters.. I want to see that #5 next to it one day. I’ll miss Captain Nick more than I even miss Stevie Y, maybe because I’m older and I remember more of The Perfect Human Being, it’s okay you know losing some of the other guys, Maltby is still with the organization and Stevie’s jersey is still at the Joe and Cheli is just down the street and Shanny is fucking things up in the NHL but what happens to Nick? What happens to Cleary and Holmer? I just want to crawl under a rock and wake up to Yzerman’s draft day.

I wish I didn’t feel the need to post this, but in the event that tonight ends up being Captain Nick’s last game.. He’s a master of the game, he plays it with such skill and dignity and professionalism it makes me wonder who could ever replace the role he’s played for over 20 years not just in Hockeytown, but the NHL. Though it’ll be sad to see him go I know the day will come sooner rather than later we’ll be watching him inducted into the Hall of Fame, at it will be an honor. An honor to see the man that stood behind our team at the blue line for over 1,000 games, an honor to see yet another Detroit captain claim a spot in the Hall of Fame, an honor to know that he will never be forgotten and it’s been an honor to call him my Captain. See Nick what he does for the fans of this Detroit team, it continues well off the ice, he’s won our hearts with his own kind being and he’s as genuine as we should all aspire to be. This man is infinite and he will always have the love and respect of a city he’s helped build. I hope today will not be his last, but I know one day it will come and I will never be ready for it, nothing can prepare me for the day this Perfect Human Being retires. I am so thankful to have learned from him, there’s been so much to learn from watching him play to watching his spirit off the ice. He’s made me a better person, given me patience and perseverance, when I feel like the fight is over he’s given me the strength to fight on, he’s let me know I can be a leader even on my weakest day. So thank you St. Nick, for all you’ve done for me and this great city, how Swede it’s been to have you on this team for 20 seasons (and counting?). Congrats on the Norris trophies, Olympic medals, Stanley Cups, Con Smythe, World Championships, your Triple Gold Club status and the hearts of thousands. We love you, and we could not ask for a better captain so play well tonight. Lead us to a victory and let’s win it in 7 because we know nothing is impossible, we believe in you and we know you believe in our team so lead them right tonight because we don’t want it to be your last.

The first change the Detroit Red Wings should make is to get rid of..

Karen Newman.

Please.

Just build a new arena and bury her voice in the rubble of the Joe.

When I say a hockey player is hot

I mean he’s literally fucking hot and someone needs to check if he’s on fire because he has mad fucking skill and can slice through that ice with razor hot, sharp moves. Pavel Datsyuk is hell on ice, ask any goalie in the NHL and I’m sure they’d agree.
